Remembering kings among men

Royals from around Europe will gather on the beaches of Normandy today to remember those who landed in the cold waters lapping the white sandy shores of this part of France seventy years ago.  The date of June 6th 1944 is the day the tide of war really turned in Europe and the bravery of the men who waded through the sea and on to shore is legendary.  Queens, kings, princes and princesses will pay tribute to them today - to those that died and to those that are still alive and keep the memory of their lost friends in their hearts.  Those memories, filled with sadness, are private most of the time but on this most momentous of anniversaries they will be shared publicly for all to see.  The day belongs to those veterans and the friends they lost but who they keep alive by their tributes.  The world will take part in the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of D-Day.  But the day belongs to those we watch - kings among men.
