Royal news, September 5th 2014

Crown Princess Mette-Marit has helped organise recycling days in connection with Fretex which is owned by the Salvation Army in Norway and which encourages people who need help getting into work to use their skills.  The first recycling day, September 5th 2014, took place in Frederikstad and in the run up to it the princess had taken to Instagram to share her recycling tips and encourage others to show off reused or remade clothes and the stories behind them.

Crown Prince Haakon Magnus of Norway jumped on his bike when he visited the UCI Mountainbike and Trials World Championships which took place in Hafjell.

The Countess of Wessex attended the Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta where she met some of the boats at the finish line - the regatta started in Falmouth.  The countess is patron of the Assoication of Sail Training which helped hundreds of young people take part in the regatta.  Sophie posed for photos with many of them.

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Prince Henrik completed their summer tour on board the royal yacht, Dannebrog, with a stop in Vesthimmerlands.  The queen visited the Rose Park, which contains 225 varieties of the flower, and then spent time with teachers and pupils at the North Field School where she also looked at an art project being undertaken there.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary took part in events marking Denmark's Flag Day which honours all those who have served their country.  They laid a wreath at the National Monument at the Citadel in Copenhagen and then attended a service at the Church of Holmen in the capital city.

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain visited the Picasso Museum in Malaga where they toured the exhibitions and then attended a dinner at the Car Museum to mark the start of the 19th US-Spain Forum.



Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands returned to Hitzacker in Germany, the birthplace of her late husband Prince Claus, where she officially opened a promenade named in his honour.
