Royal wedding celebrations get under way in Sweden

With less than twenty four hours to go until the big Royal Wedding of the year, celebrations are already underway in Stockholm. Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist have been welcoming guests to a pre wedding dinner in perfect Swedish sunshine. And the glamour, glitz and glory of a royal wedding are already on show.

Here comes the bride...and groom...Sweden's sweethearts get ready to wed

The meal was a private affair but the arrivals were very public with the guests being ferried to their dinner on board a boat, The Stockholm, and smiling for the cameras as they prepared to embark. And just to prove he's ready for married life, the groom helped the bride with her dress as they walked the gangplank together to greet their friends and family.

Sofia chose baby blue while her future sisters in law both selected subtle shades of grey. Crown Princess Victoria added a bit of sparkle in a stunner of a dress that was reminiscent of the fabulous frock she wore to the marriage of little sister, Madeleine, in 2013.

Meanwhile the baby of the family was very, well, baby as Madeleine braved gala dresses and gala heels just days away from giving birth to her second child.

The bride's sisters, Lina and Sara, also went for subtle shades of grey for the event as they arrived with their respective partners.

In fact, it was only the groom's mother who went out on a limb for the pre wedding dinner. Queen Silvia, a great advocate of skirt suits and dresses, chose a trouser suit in bright green. Well, she's only going to be mother of the groom once.

There were other royals there - Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway borrowed one arm of future fellow consort, Prince Daniel, for her walk to the boat while Princess Martha Louise and her husband, Ari Behn, were all smiles, as usual, on their arrival.

The whole evening was just a taster of the big event itself which starts tomorrow afternoon. Get ready to sparkle, it's Royal Wedding time!
