Five royal highlights of #Lillehammer2016

The Youth Olympics Games are coming to an end in Lillehammer and the last ten days have provided some great sport highlights and some great royal highlights. From super fast princes to calm and cool princesses, #Lillehammer2016 has given Norway's royals another boost following hot on the heels of the hugely successful Jubilee celebrations in January. Here are five royal highlights from the past nine days of winter fun.

In days gone by, heirs to the throne were kept wrapped in cotton wool to protect the succession to the crown. Not now. Crown Prince Haakon Magnus loves a bit of extreme sport (parachuting into his 40th birthday celebrations springs to mind) and as Lillehammer got into full swing, so did Norway's future king as he tried out the luge and hurtled down an icy track at really very fast speeds indeed.

Haakon's daughter, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, provided one of the big royal moments of the event when she climbed a huge set of stairs to light the Olympic Cauldron at the Opening Ceremony. Watched by her proud parents and granddad, King Harald V, she continued the Norwegian Royal Family's Olympic traditions.

The royals also took the chance to get involved with some discussions linked to sport. During Lillehammer 2016, Crown Prince Haakon heard about the experiences of young gay athletes during a series of talks and debates

The Crown Prince and Princess, along with their two children, took to the slopes alongside a group of refugees as #Lillehammer2016 got underway. The 'Slopes for All' event saw the royals join young refugees in a skiing lesson and it was one of a series of opportunities for everyone to try out different winter sports.

We all love a royals cheering sports stars on photo and Norway's Crown Prince and Princess gave us another a classic as they joined in with an arms in the air moment during the Games. If the Jubilee was all about Harald and Sonja and the Opening Ceremony was all about Ingrid Alexandra then the sports event
