The Queen of Spain has paid tribute to those who died and were injured in the shootings in Orlando at the weekend. During a speech in Salamanca, Queen Letizia condemned the killings and said that, along with King Felipe, she believed there was only one way to counter such attacks - by standing together. Her words came as royal houses around the continent sent their condolences to President Obama and the families of the victims of the fifty people who were killed.

Earlier in the day, King Felipe and Queen Letizia had sent a message of condolence to Barack Obama and the victims' families expressing their solidarity following an attack they described as brutal.

On Tuesday June 14th, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the US Embassy in London to pay their respects and to sign the book of condolence.

The previous evening, the Royal Palace in Amsterdam had been illuminated with the rainbow to show support for the LGBT community in the aftermath of the attacks on the gay club, Pulse.
