Prince Harry during his day out in Wigan

If any royal was going to try his hand at fishing indoors, it was Prince Harry. The outdoors pursuit under cover was one of several big moments in a big day in Wigan that was all about how sport and activity can help children and young people. From art to motor racing and back to that indoor fishing, it was an action packed day for action prince, Harry.
Let's start with the fishing. Harry's day started at Cast North West, a charity which aims to help young people learn new skills and get more out of life through fishing.

Harry wasn't going to go all the way to an indoor angling centre and not have a go himself. With net in royal hand, he tried to scoop out a fish for weighing and monitoring (all back in the water afterwards here folks). Even he looked surprised when he finally caught one.

Then it was on to a fast paced project that tries to get young people interested in engineering and science.

The Blair Project creates ideas around cars that are designed to encourage young people into scientific studies and Harry got an idea of how the fun turns into fact when he watched how they used 3D printing to excite interest in engineering. He watched a cart designed and brought to life through 3D printing was raced around the track. It's the first time that's happened in the UK - if you're having a royal visitor, always best to do something really spectacular and this ticked every box on that score.
Harry just had time to find himself a 50p before his final stop of the day. It costs just that to get into Wigan Youth Zone which opens its doors to thousands of young people and all for the entrance price of 50p.

Harry was given an extensive tour of all the activities on offer there - from art to football to climbing. They try to put on more than 20 activities every day and the scheme is hugely popular.
It rounded off a busy day for Harry who has been pretty relentless with engagements recently. From his concert at Kensington for Sentebale to the moving commemorations for the 100th anniversary of the Somme, Harry has been high profile in recent days. And that's set to continue with another visit to focus on the issue of HIV/ AIDS announced for him today while he was at Wigan. Harry may have been messing about on an indoor (sort of) river to day but there's no danger of him being gone fishing any time soon.
