The Queen will host President Donald Trump during a State Visit later in 2017

The 45th President of the United States of America is to make a State Visit to the UK. A week on from his inauguration, it was confirmed that Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, will be the guests of the Queen later this year.
The confirmation of the widely expected State Visit came during a joint press conference by President Trump and th Prime Minister, Theresa May, following their meeting today. Mrs May, the first overseas leader to meet Donald Trump following his inauguration last Friday, told journalists that ''I have today been able to convey Her Majesty the Queen's hope that President Trump and the First Lady would pay a state visit to the United Kingdom later this year and I'm delighted that the president has accepted that invitation."
It's not yet clear when the State Visit will take place - usually incoming visits to the UK take place around March or October/ November time. The wording - later this year - indicates an autumn trip rather than a springtime visit is more likely. And given the logistics of organising such a high profile trip, the latter part of 2017 would seem to be more likely right now. However, full details are still to be confirmed.
