Victoria gets her 40th birthday party started

When you're a queen in waiting and about as popular as they come, then you can get your birthday party started any time you want. With six weeks to go until Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden celebrates her 40th, the festivities have started with a series of portraits and an official royal website all about her big day. This is going to be some birthday.

Three brand new images were released on June 2nd 2017 ahead of the birthday celebrations, all taken by trusted royal photographer, Erika Gerdemark. They're all solo shots of Victoria, very modern and very classy.

The've been shared as information on a new wbpage on Victoria's 40th appears on the official Swedish Royal Family site.  Two days of celebrations are planned around Victoria's birthday with events including a Te Deum service, a carriage ride and the traditional gathering at Solliden where the Crown Princess and her family are expected to greet huge crowds for this special anniversary.

Victoria Ingrid Alice Desiree, Crown Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Vastergotland, was born on July 14th 1977, the first child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. She had no succession rights at birth but a law change, which came into effect in 1980, saw her replace her younger brother, Prince Carl Philip, as heir to the throne. A high profile heir, her wedding to Daniel Westling in 2010 was one of the biggest royal marriages Europe has seen this century while her young family - daughter Estelle is now five while baby Oscar has just turned one - is winning even more fans at home and abroad.

And the fact that these new photos are a) so early and b) only of Victoria hints that more official birthday portraits are on their way no doubt starring Estelle and Oscar. Victoria's celebrations are only just beginning.
